The Chinese army threatened "burning the islands" in Taiwan during the weekend in case of strengthening trends towards independence on the island, which has autonomous status, warning foreign powers about the necessity to step back from the "edge of destruction."
"Divisions - this is the lawlessness and poverty for Taiwan and its people. If the trend towards independence does not stop, we will be forced to burn Taiwanese separatists," said a representative of the Chinese armed forces.
In his address to Taiwanese separatists, the army representative emphasized that they stand at a "dangerous edge" and warned them not to fall into "destruction."
"Whoever plays with fire, must definitely get burned," the representative added.
