A man from Taiwan is sharing his story as a warning to others after experiencing severe health issues following a ride on a high-speed roller coaster. Last month, he rode a super-fast roller coaster and immediately felt unwell afterward, dismissing it as a temporary issue. Over the following months, his condition worsened, and he began to suffer from severe headaches, which grew more intense. However, a CT scan showed no abnormalities. Later, he suddenly collapsed in his bed and was rushed to the emergency room. A subsequent examination revealed a severe hematoma in his brain. He underwent brain surgery to remove the accumulated blood. But after returning to China a day later, he suddenly experienced a retinal tear and bleeding. Doctors stated that this, combined with decreased vascular elasticity in later years, can make them more prone to tearing under certain conditions. The man's post on social media went viral, with others over forty sharing similar experiences. One commenter wrote, "I'm over fifty." Another person shared: "I went to my regular eye check-up. The doctor told people with severe myopia to avoid roller coasters, drop towers, and bungee jumping because these rides involve violent vibrations and can easily cause retinal detachment." It appears that with age, the brain shrinks slightly, increasing the space between brain tissue and the skull, allowing the brain more room to move during the sudden acceleration and deceleration on roller coasters.
