Famous actress Barbie Hsu, who gained widespread recognition for her leading role in the television series 'Meteor Garden', passed away at the age of 48, according to Taiwanese local media on Monday, February 3.
The Hsu family stated for local media that the Taiwanese actress and singer passed away from complications of pneumonia, reports Focus Taiwan, an English-language news site of the state-run Central News Agency.
Through her agency, sister Barbie, leading talk-show host Dee Hsu, shared that their family had traveled to Japan for the Chinese New Year vacation.
The statement did not specify the time and place of Barbie's death.
Hsu became famous thanks to her role as Shancai in 'Meteor Garden', a Taiwanese drama series from 2001 that also captured the hearts of Filipinos.
She leaves behind her husband - Chinese singer and DJ Koo Jun-yeop, whom she married in 2012.
Hsu also left behind two children from her marriage to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, from whom she divorced in 2021 after 10 years of marriage.
