In recent days, Chinese balloons have regularly been detected near Taiwan. On Friday, a record number was confirmed as the highest observed since August 2023, reports the France Presse agency.
Earlier this month, Taiwan announced the discovery of six Chinese aerial vehicles near the island.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that a total of twelve Chinese balloons had been detected entering the island's airspace. This is a record number since August 2023 for this island, which Beijing considers part of its territory.
"A total of twelve balloons were detected within 24 hours until 06:00 local time on Friday (22:00 GMT on Thursday)," the Taiwan Ministry of Defense reported.
